Breastplate of Faith and Love

First I want to share the love of God with you as always and say be blessed in every way!  God loves you and I with an everlasting love that endures forever. He led me this morning to 1Thessalonians 5:8, 11 which says, "8 But since we belong to the day, let us be self-controlled, putting on faith and love as a breastplate, and the hope of salvation as a helmet. 11 Therefore encourage one another and build each other up, just as in fact you are doing." NIV  Faith comes by the hearing of God's word, so let us not just look at our bible laying on the table but pick it up each morning, afternoon, evening or night to read it and meditate upon what we read.  This builds the spiritual muscle of faith in us with strengthens God's  spirit of love in us.  Guarding our heart with the breastplate of faith and love will assure us of walking in the spirit and not after the flesh which leads to sin and death.  Self-control is one of the fruits or offspring of love, so it all goes hand in hand with faith and love together.  Compare Romans 8: 1, 5-6

Helmet of Salvation

I was especially drawn this morning to the words, "hope of salvation as a helmet". Having on our full suit of armor is so important in spiritual warfare. Everyday we are engaged in battle in the earth. God gave man dominion over the earth and so he has equipped us to reign along with him in righteousness, justice and holiness. 2Co 10:4 KJV  says, "4 (For the weapons of our warfare are not carnal, but mighty through God to the pulling down of strong holds;)" Strongholds are strings of thoughts from the enemy housed to take up residence in our mind and heart. The mind is the battlefield where it all starts and so I believe this is why the Lord led me to speak on this first. These thoughts left unattended can take root in our heart. There is a true saying, 'You are what you eat',  but it can also be said that you are what you think as well.  Because what is eating you  is whatever we  think about.  The challenge presented here by the Lord is that we utilize the armor He has provided in order to win the battle that has been waged by the enemy of God for your life.

We have a helmet that we must wear at all times on the battlefield of life.  God has provided this for us to protect our mind from the dangerous thoughts of the enemy which act like poison. It is deadly and weakens our spirit and even possibly to the point of killing our spirit. So, let us put on our helmet which is the "HOPE of SALVATION".  What does salvation mean to you? Has it had an effect in the way you carry on your daily business affairs or with family, friends, strangers?  In what way can you and I make sure we don't forget to put on our helmet, which is the HOPE of SALVATION?  By meditating and thinking upon what God's Word says about our salvation is a sure way of putting on our helmet. So I have listed below scriptures that we can meditate upon, planting these seeds of truth so that they will  take root in our mind and heart. Then we will always have that helmet on. We must never take it off. We must keep our armor on at all times.

Here's to keeping our helmet on!  God is so good isn't He!  Many blessings to you friends!!!

No Weapon Formed Against You Shall Prosper

Isaiah 54:17 KJV - "17 No weapon that is formed against thee shall prosper; and every tongue that shall rise against thee in judgment thou shalt condemn. This is the heritage of the servants of the LORD, and their righteousness is of me, saith the LORD."

For those who have ears to listen and hear what the Spirit is saying:

We  are not alone, for the Lord stands with us in battle. We must gird our loins with the sword of truth. 1Peter 1:13-24 KJV - "13 Wherefore gird up the loins of your mind, be sober, and hope to the end for the grace that is to be brought unto you at the revelation of Jesus Christ; 14 As obedient children, not fashioning yourselves according to the former lusts in your ignorance: 15 But as he which hath called you is holy, so be ye holy in all manner of conversation; 16 Because it is written, Be ye holy; for I am holy.

The battle is being waged for our heart. This is what the enemy desires to take from you and I. If he can conquer our heart, we are in trouble. But all is not lost. The bible tells us to safeguard our heart. Never give up. We must pray in the Spirit and seek the Lord with all our heart. We must confess our sins and repent, truly repent. It requires a full surrender of heart to the Lord in total submission to Him. Resist the devil and he will flee.   Therefore no weapon formed against you shall prosper because our righteousness, and our strength is in the Lord not in ourselves.

[2Cor 10:3-5 KJV] 3 For though we walk in the flesh, we do not war after the flesh: 4 (For the weapons of our warfare [are] not carnal, but mighty through God to the pulling down of strong holds;) 5 Casting down imaginations, and every high thing that exalteth itself against the knowledge of God, and bringing into captivity every thought to the obedience of Christ;

There are healing waters to cleanse all defilements left by the enemy when he  once had our heart through our love of the world and our own sinful flesh. God's spirit  will go into the deepest crevices where sin can hide to cleanse us, for we must be holy.  Things are always changing all around us in the atmosphere. Stay alert and pray constantly. Know that the enemy is defeated. He will soon be completely put away. [1Th 5:17 NIV] 17 says, "pray continually".

We
are no longer defiled for we have  been cleansed, purified and sanctified by the blood of the Lamb. [Rev 7:14 KJV] 14 And I said unto him, Sir, thou knowest. And he said to me, These are they which came out of great tribulation, and have washed their robes, and made them white in the blood of the Lamb. Rev 19:8, 14 KJV - "8 And to her was granted that she should be arrayed in fine linen, clean and white: for the fine linen is the righteousness of saints. ... 14 And the armies which were in heaven followed him upon white horses, clothed in fine linen, white and clean."

Our God is holy and righteous, for there is nothing unholy in Him. We should invite the Holy Spirit to come and live inside of us.  God will never force himself on us. We must  seek him with all our heart for He promises we will be satisfied. Also it means eternal life that we know Him and the  Son. You  come to know them through the Word that was made manifest in the flesh, Jesus Christ himself., the Holy One of Israel.  [John 17:3, 17 KJV] 3 And this is life eternal, that they might know thee the only true God, and Jesus Christ, whom thou hast sent. ... 17 Sanctify them through thy truth: thy word is truth.

The world is evil and man falls deeper and deeper into sin but we must draw close to the Lord. He is our source of strength so spend time with Him in prayer, praise and worship. Prayer will help to break down walls of contention, divisions and strife that may come in our life. The enemy is using the sin of offense as his offensive weapon of attack against many. God says in his word, clothe yourselves with LOVE.

Know that He is with us no matter where we go so keep that ever present in your heart. We are all ONE in the SPIRIT of LOVE. For God is LOVE.  Compare Matt 24:10,  1Peter 3:8    1John 4:8, 16 KJV - "8 He that loveth not knoweth not God; for God is love. ... 16 And we have known and believed the love that God hath to us. God is love; and he that dwelleth in love dwelleth in God, and God in him."

Hope you are encouraged. Please feel free to leave a comment.

Scriptures for reference:
1Pe 1:13-24 KJV - "13 Wherefore gird up the loins of your mind, be sober, and hope to the end for the grace that is to be brought unto you at the revelation of Jesus Christ; 14 As obedient children, not fashioning yourselves according to the former lusts in your ignorance: 15 But as he which hath called you is holy, so be ye holy in all manner of conversation; 16 Because it is written, Be ye holy; for I am holy. 17 And if ye call on the Father, who without respect of persons judgeth according to every man's work, pass the time of your sojourning here in fear: 18 Forasmuch as ye know that ye were not redeemed with corruptible things, as silver and gold, from your vain conversation received by tradition from your fathers; 19 But with the precious blood of Christ, as of a lamb without blemish and without spot:

20 Who verily was foreordained before the foundation of the world, but was manifest in these last times for you, 21 Who by him do believe in God, that raised him up from the dead, and gave him glory; that your faith and hope might be in God. 22 Seeing ye have purified your souls in obeying the truth through the Spirit unto unfeigned love of the brethren, see that ye love one another with a pure heart fervently: 23 Being born again, not of corruptible seed, but of incorruptible, by the word of God, which liveth and abideth for ever. 24 For all flesh is as grass, and all the glory of man as the flower of grass. The grass withereth, and the flower thereof falleth away:"

John 17:11, 21 NKJV - "11 "Now I am no longer in the world, but these are in the world, and I come to You. Holy Father, keep through Your name those whom You have given Me, that they may be one as We are. ... 21 "that they all may be one, as You, Father, are in Me, and I in You; that they also may be one in Us, that the world may believe that You sent Me."

Hebrews 10:22 NIV - "22 let us draw near to God with a sincere heart and with the full assurance that faith brings, having our hearts sprinkled to cleanse us from a guilty conscience and having our bodies washed with pure water."

Luke 6:21 NIV - "21 Blessed are you who hunger now, for you will be satisfied. Blessed are you who weep now, for you will laugh."

Mat 24:10 KJV - "10 And then shall many be offended, and shall betray one another, and shall hate one another."
1Peter 3:8 KJV - "8 Finally, be ye all of one mind, having compassion one of another, love as brethren, be pitiful, be courteous:"

1John 4:8, 16 KJV - "8 He that loveth not knoweth not God; for God is love. ... 16 And we have known and believed the love that God hath to us. God is love; and he that dwelleth in love dwelleth in God, and God in him."
